1. With numbers like these, the logistics must be a massive undertaking. How do you handle the sourcing and selection of so many devices? "That’s one of our most frequently asked questions. Surprisingly, we have just one highly trained person handling this. Their sole task is to monitor markets inside and outside the EU daily, purchasing only those devices where refurbishing makes sense and where we can guarantee top quality. We don’t buy worn-out or ruined devices. Our target is business-class laptops, for which we are confidently prepared to offer a warranty ranging from 12 to 36 months."
2. How does the actual refurbishing process work? What happens to a device from the moment it arrives at your warehouse until it’s published on your website? "The journey is quite long and meticulous, but to break it down, it consists of four main steps. First is the arrival of the device, physical cleaning, and sorting. Then comes the most important part: hardware and stress testing, along with a detailed logging of specifications. The third step is the physical refurbishment or the replacement of worn-out or broken parts. The fourth step is the proper listing and distribution across 20 different markets. What’s particularly interesting is that we have developed several in-house solutions to optimize this process. For example, we have our own testing stations for charging and discharging batteries, as well as specific software that automatically logs laptop specs, allowing us to process data safely and quickly."

3. Many people still confuse "used" with "refurbished". What is the biggest prejudice you have to quickly debunk for your customers? "The biggest myth is definitely that 'refurbished' simply means reselling 'used' equipment—basically buying a pig in a poke with the same associated risks. With a standard used computer, you often won't notice hidden flaws until you actually need a specific function (like a broken USB port). That doesn't happen with us. Every laptop goes through detailed diagnostics. We replace or upgrade batteries, storage drives, and memory (RAM), fix keyboards, and repair or replace non-functioning ports. If, in certain cases, it doesn't make sense to refurbish or replace a specific component, we offer that device at a correspondingly lower price with a very precise description of its actual condition—what we call the wear-and-tear grade. The main difference between used and refurbished is our transparency, technical flawlessness, and, of course, the warranty, which simply doesn't exist on the regular used market."
4. You mentioned data processing. When buying used business computers on such a massive scale, how do you ensure the data security of the previous owners? "This is a critical part of our business. Every hard drive that comes to us goes through a strict and certified process of permanent data wiping before a new operating system is even installed. We make absolutely no compromises here. If a drive cannot be 100% securely wiped for any reason, it is physically destroyed and replaced with a new one. Security and privacy are always our top priorities."

5. You sell in 24 different countries. How do you manage such diverse markets, especially regarding hardware localization, like foreign keyboards? "Adaptability is the key to success. Because we operate in 20 different markets, we’ve set up our processes so we can react quickly to local needs. We handle localization for each specific market—from adapting keyboards (e.g., engraving Slovenian, Croatian, Italian, or other characters) to providing the right power cables and operating systems in the local language. A customer abroad gets exactly the same shopping experience as a domestic one."
6. As an outside observer, I have to ask—why are companies and individuals increasingly opting for your refurbished equipment instead of buying new? "There are two main reasons: reliability and sustainability. People and companies have realized that refurbished business-class equipment is cost-effective, technologically highly efficient, and at the same time affordable. By extending the lifespan of these devices, we, alongside our customers, drastically reduce the amount of e-waste. Customers save money while also doing something good for the environment."
7. What does the future hold for PoceniPC? Given that you are already developing your own solutions, what is your next big step? "Our focus remains on automation and pushing the quality of our refurbishment even higher. We are currently continuing to develop our internal hardware and software, which will allow for even faster and more precise diagnostics. In the long term, we want to expand our sustainable IT model to even more European markets, continuously proving that refurbished equipment is the smartest choice."
