Why is Yealink the Right Choice for Hybrid Meetings?
Remote participants need to be able to clearly see the people in the room, understand who is saying what, and feel as though they are part of the meeting. This is where Yealink conference systems stand out, with security and intelligent video management at the forefront.
All Yealink Android-based conference systems are certified for the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform, or MDEP. This is Microsoft’s platform based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), designed for device manufacturers and software developers. It enables hardware and software customization while also providing the security and management capabilities of the Microsoft ecosystem.
MDEP 2024.2 introduced hardware-based authentication using Microsoft’s Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), as well as Microsoft Secure Pairing. Combined with Android’s core security features, this helps improve device security and detect potential threats. In the future, verification status will also be visible in Microsoft Intune and will support conditional access policies and zero-trust principles.
This is important because conference devices are becoming part of the corporate IT environment. By choosing Yealink, companies are therefore not simply getting meeting equipment, but a device designed for use within the Microsoft ecosystem.
Another important feature of current Yealink systems is the use of two or more lenses combined with ePTZ technology. In more advanced models, the ePTZ combination is complemented by conventional PTZ. The purpose is not simply to have more cameras, but to enable the system to cover the room more effectively and show remote participants what is important.
The advantage is most apparent in medium-sized and large meeting rooms. A single camera often means making a compromise. If it captures everyone, faces appear small, while if it zooms in on an individual, other participants may disappear from the frame. Multiple lenses and intelligent framing make it possible to provide a better overview of what is happening in the room. With supported systems, Microsoft Teams can also use multiple cameras simultaneously, while remote participants can switch between different views.
An important part of the experience is Microsoft Teams Multi-Stream IntelliFrame. This is an AI-powered experience capable of identifying the active speaker and generating multiple video streams. With supported cameras, the system can use facial movements and gesture recognition to track the active speaker. If a user within the organization is enrolled with their face and voice profile, Teams can also display their name alongside their video feed. Participant recognition in the attendee list can also be enabled, along with speech transcription that identifies who said what.
Devices that support Microsoft Multi-Stream IntelliFrame and people recognition include the Yealink SmartVision 40, SmartVision 60, and the Yealink MVC S90 kit. A Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro licence and the appropriate configuration are required to use IntelliFrame and people recognition features.
In a traditional video call, it is necessary to make sure that the camera is actually showing the right people. With IntelliFrame, the system automatically places participants into individual frames so that they are displayed more evenly. The active speaker can be shown in one of four larger frames, alongside the three most recent active speakers. A panoramic view of the entire room can also be displayed at the bottom.
Remote participants therefore receive a view that adapts to what is happening in the meeting. This means fewer situations where someone is speaking while the camera is showing other participants or the entire room. The purpose of this approach is simple. To give people who are not physically present in the meeting room a better overview of what is happening inside it.
The main reason for choosing Yealink is not a single feature, but the combination of all of them. The camera no longer behaves like an ordinary camera, but instead helps create a clearer and more understandable view of the meeting, bringing the experience closer to actually being present for remote participants.
Companies where remote work is a regular part of collaboration will appreciate this. A good conference system means spending less time worrying about who is in the frame and who is speaking, and allowing more attention to be focused on the content of the meeting.
