Visual Studio + Docker + Sprinkles of Azure = Modern Microservices

Containers have been around for quite some time now, but creating, deploying and maintaining them has been a burden before the days of Docker. Literally, Docker has revolutionized not only the way we think about application development but the entire ‘microservices’ pattern altogether. I’d even go so far to say that ‘microservices’ might have become a hype word because of companies such as Docker, Inc. For the .NET world though, things have moved in a different pace, but with modern and capable tools, frameworks and environments such as Visual Studio 2017, .NET Core, Windows Server 2016, Windows 10 and Azure, actually developing or optimizing .NET-based applications for Docker support no longer is rocket-surgery.
