Over-engineering stuff is not only tempting but also easier... especially in the cloud. No matter how grandiose and sluggish solution you build the cloud can run it and make it performant enough... until you run out of other people's money. Designing a simple, resilient, and performant solution takes discipline, and takes away the fun... the „fun“ of being on a rollercoaster.
